Adoption Question - With a crazy cute pic

My wife and I have decided it is time to bring a second Golden into our house, now that Seamus is a year old.  
After doing a bunch of research online, my wife has located a possible rescue/adoptee...and we have been approved.
The pup in question is Daisy, and is an AKC registered dog with papers.  She is 10 weeks old right now, and will be available for adoption on 5/24 after her spay/recovery period.
Here is the question...is it normal for a 'Rescue/Adoption' to charge a total of $1200 for an AKC registered puppy?  This is very close to what it would cost to purchase from a Breeder.
 
Just want to be sure we are not running into something funny here.
