Lyme Vaccine - Yes or No?

We leave mid June to head North to Maine for the summer.  I know ticks are a much bigger problem in the Northeast than they are in Florida.  Our vet will do the Lyme vaccination, but she says it's not a sure thing.  I've seen recommendations on the net to skip the vaccine and just monitor closely.
 
We will be living on a boat, so she will only be exposed during walks (I hope!). I believe there are lots of folks here who live up North and would appreciate recommendations.
