There is no sign of any owner out there on the horizon so it looks like she's mine.
This month I want to work on:
1) leash walking- Ada is doing great. We are all leash, all the time. We have got a long line now and we've gotten into a good habit of long walks with the short leash and short-distance but long sniffing wanderings on the long line. I think we have a pretty solid base but there is definitely room to improve.I would like to need to pulse the leash less, even in hgh distraction areas.
2) fine tuning the schedule- We need to work out a schedule that will meet her needs and not burn me out. She is getting me into better shape for certain but this is for the long haul and I don't want to burn out. I also think as we do more mental exercises she will need less physical exercise.
3) Getting her health sorted out- the spay thing is almost in the past. her stitches come out on Monday. But we still need to get her declared free of mange. That won't happen till September but we will continue the revolution and bedding bleaching. My hands are getting dry and cracked from so much medicated soap and yet I still have itchy bumps. Could be ticks or Mosquitos (this time of year there are always itchy bumps,) but of course my mind goes to the mange thing. I will just keep up the treatments and precautions and do the best we can.
4) integration in the family- until the mange thing is sorted not a lot is going to happen on that front. I think it's good to go slowly though. I think in the past I have rushed it and I am forced to go slowly here . I think that's for the best.
I think that's pretty much good for August. There's a lot more for us to work on but this is what I will try to concentrate on this month.
