Our 3-year-old Standard Poodle had a hard day today, and I would love some advice, please.

Part 1: Her ears became infected while we were on vacation, and this morning we whisked her to the vet. On the advice of two vets, we haven't been plucking her ear hair because we understand that can cause problems. But before the vet could see what was going on, the vet had to pull out the hair, which was growing deep in the ear canal. The plucking took 4 people: 2 vet techs to hold Zora down, me holding her snout, and the vet extracting the hair. Very upsetting for Zora, but it was necessary, unfortunately. I'm really glad to be getting those ears treated.

Part 2: My partner took her for a walk and some children were petting her. Another child came up excitedly and Zora lunged and barked at her. Nobody was hurt, but I don't like that the child was frightened. The other children assured their sibling or friend that "some dogs don't like to be touched."

Zora has been good around children, but how do I know if she's *really* OK with them and this was a bad day, or if I should keep her away from children, not just while she's recovering from this infection, but for good? Is this one of those times when I should consult a professional in person?

Thanks!
