Last weekend Sophie and I went to a 2 day trial and stayed overnight in a hotel. The hotel is not something she is used to, but she had perfect manners and never make a peep. Day one was great. It was an outdoor trial, also something that she is not used to, and her first 2 runs were slow but accurate so we Q"d anyway. Her next 3 runs were great, she finished up her level 3 standards with 2 firsts and ended with a second in fullhouse, which is a game we always love. So we went off to the hotel 5 for 5, and I was thrilled! The next day was a different story, she was exhausted and didn't make time for her first 2 runs, which she has never done before. I decided to stick out the day anyway to see if she regrouped as she did the day before but she was just totally pooped. We have done 3 day trials where she has been fine but she was returning to her own house at night. So for the rest of the summer I am going to try to trial more often but only one day as opposed to trialing less often but both days. I think she just needs more exposure and I want to keep it fun of course, because that is the point. The other thing is her weave poles, she really needs much more practice in a trial setting because she is doing them nicely at home and in class, but in a trial she just isn't able to focus yet. It will come though, I think, with more exposure.
