How do I add an avatar to my posts or change my avatar?

Your avatar will appear below your user name on every post that you create. It is a visual aid that will immediately identify posts as yours to other forum members:

You can choose a photo that is stored on your computer, or a photo on a web site (for example, you can choose a photograph that you uploaded to a PhotoBucket account). Copyright laws govern the use of images on the internet, so if you are selecting a photograph that you did not take, make sure you are doing so with proper permission.

Note: You may have uploaded an image on your profile when you created your account. That image will not automatically become your avatar. You need to separately upload an image for your avatar.

Before you upload an image, make sure it’s sized properly (maximum size is 150 by 150 pixels; and about 19 KB).

Go to the Forums page:

At the top of that page, under the Forums heading, click the User Control Panel link:

In the Options box, click the Profile link:

You’ll see another Options box. Click the Edit avatar link:

To upload a picture from your computer, click the Choose File button:

Your computer’s directory will appear. Navigate to and select the image. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the Edit avatar box.

A message will appear telling you that your profile has been updated.

There are two ways that you can use an image that is not on your computer, but rather on a web site (for example, you might choose an image that you uploaded to your Photobucket account):

Under either approach, enter the URL of the web page with the image in the space provided. (the best way to do this is to copy and paste the URL from your browser into the space provided).

Click the Submit button.

A message will appear telling you that your profile has been updated.

Deleting your Avatar

To delete your avatar, follow the instructions above to get to the Edit avatar screen. Click in the Delete image box (a check will appear) and click the Submit button:

Changing your Avatar:

To replace your avatar with a new image, follow the instructions above to get to the Edit avatar screen. Click the Choose File button. Navigate to and select the image you want to use as your avatar.
