Hi, I just brought home a beagle puppy last night. I think I'm naming her Harley, and she's 9 weeks old. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to bring her home a week earlier than I'd originally planned, so I was completely not prepared. I rushed her home, made her up a little home in the bathroom, and since the pet store was closed I made an emergency run to Wal-Mart to get a collar and leash, a chew toy, and puppy pads (the breeder sent food with me). I just needed enough to get through the night.
Anyway, by the time I got home she'd peed on the bathroom floor in front of the door, which wasn't a huge deal. It was my own fault anyway for not being prepared. I cleaned it up, and covered the floor as much as I could with puppy pads. There's a few bare spots, but it's mostly covered. But when I got up this morning and went in the bathroom to check on her, she'd moved the puppy pad out of the way to defecate in the same spot she'd urinated on.
This is my first puppy so I really have no idea what I'm doing, and I don't want this to become a bad habit. Any advice anyone could give me to help get my puppy dog started out on the right track would be hugely appreciated.
