I have had Rufus for almost a year now. He'll be 4 in a couple of weeks, but is still very puppy-ish in many ways. He's come a long, long way since I adopted him, but still a couple of issues I could use some input on.
I think b/c he spent most of his first 3 years in a crate, except for potty outings, he got comfortable (ish) with holding it for long periods and then emptying his bladder when he was taken out. So he kind of stands still when he pees, not a squat, and maybe a tiny lift, but often, just leans forward a bit and pees- for a long time. He has plenty of outings, and I structure his days a lot still. On a walk, he lifts his leg just fine, though he has no desire to be in competition ;)
Anyway, when peeing in the yard, a lot of his pee hits his front leg, and I'm not too keen on it. I keep his legs trimmed, so it'll be easier to clean, but it's kind of a drag to always have to do.........
We've had boy dog friends over to pee, but that hasn't really changed anything. It's the same whether I'm out there or not.
Any thoughts on how to make this all better?
Rufus, so you'll know he's cute, anyway ;)
