Mom has MRSA and C. dif. My sister, who lives and works in Cambodia, has medical power of attorney, and she will be talking to the infectious disease specialist this afternoon, but it looks like treatment is no longer possible.
This has been a rough road for us.
I'm sorry to hear you're having such a rough time.

By this afternoon, the Dr had found and started Mom on a brand new antibiotic, Teflaro.
She's till far from being out of the woods, but she is alert, engaged, and wants to keep trying. She thinks how this drug works on her will help medicine advance, whether it is successful for her or not. (BTW, she is an 88-year-old who uses a laptop and a Kindle in her nursing home room)

Your mom is a lovely, lively woman.

Continues vibes from me and Micky! A laptop and a Kindle... LOVE IT!
It really is a roller coaster. I spent most of 2011 there while my mom battled pneumonia, c diff and several strokes. I am sending you all the vibes I can muster plus many heartfelt prayers. Please remember to take care of yourself so that you can be strong for her.

I agree that your mom sounds like an amazing woman. I have always believed that attitude has as much to do with recovery as anything else, and it sounds like she has a great, positive attitude.
Sending my heartfelt prayers and support!
Same good vibes and hugs from here, Karen.
When Dad was in the first or second of many hospital stays in '07 he picked up every infectious disease in the hospital. The specialist practically lived in his room.
Some of the a/b's were so strong he was hallucinating and then sleeping in and out for a couple of weeks. I thought it was a miracle they pulled him out of it at all, but they did.
(((( ))))
Continued vibes. {{{{{ }}}}}
What a great attitude your mom has.
What a remarkable attitude she has - blessings upon her in this most difficult of battles.
Hugs to you and your family.
Patty
Your mom sounds like an amazing woman.
My best wishes for her and for you.
She does sound amazing. Vibes continueing to come from this corner of the world.
Bad day. One of her Drs yelled at me, said she couldn't deal w/ me, told me I don't care about my mom, walked out of room in a huff. I was asking what seemed to me (and Danny)were reasonable questions about my mom's care.
Boy, talk about bad bed-side manners. [Understatement]
That is bizarro. Get better docs. There is no way any docs should be yelling at family members or storming off in a huff. That is unprofessional and inexcusable. Family members are allowed to be a bit emotional, but that, from a doctor? No!
I sincerely hope that it wasn't the attending, and maybe was just an intern or resident who was sleep-deprived.
If it was a trainee, resident or intern, the attending needs to know that they snapped like that.
She,s the infectious disease specialist. And the only one around.
So, what is her name? Just curious.

Um, Karen, the message seems to be locked up. I can see it in my inbox, but it doesn't do anything when I click on it, so I can't read it or reply there.
Did that work?
Did that work?
Yup! It worked. :)
I'm sorry that the staff are being so hard to deal with! It sure doesn't make the situation any better. {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
Hoping that today is better. {{{{{{{{More and More Strength & Clarity Vibes}}}}}}}}
Advocating with and for sick family members is hard enough, without someone's inexcusable unprofessional behavior.
