Puppy Sleeping Question

Hey folks I have a ten month old apricot pug that my family adores like crazy. I understand puppies sleep a lot, but I have one family member that thinks its a good idea to put the pug downstairs for a few hours because there's so much foot traffic upstairs, the pug doesn't get nearly enough sleep. I tried telling my family member that she'll sleep when she's tired in another room.

We now have a room specifically for her where she can go at anytime to sleep, but she follows us around a lot upstairs. I'm thinking once she grows out of the puppy stage (I think by the time she turns 2, she'll be an adult. Correct me if I'm wrong), she wouldn't have to depend on one of us to show her where her bed is every day.

My question to you is what do you do in this situation? Do you think putting a dog downstairs for a few hours to sleep is a good idea or is that cruel for the pup? She does seem to get sleep there, but she's part of the family and I hate seeing her down there.
